Iranian actor Reza Kianian to be honored for lifetime achievement

Prominent Iranian actor Reza Kianian will be commemorated with lifetime achievement award at the 8th Cultural Festival of Iranian Ministry of Health.

Prominent Iranian actor Reza Kianian will be commemorated with lifetime achievement award at the 8th Cultural Festival of Iranian Ministry of Health.

The award will be given to Kianian during the event’s closing ceremony on Monday April 17.

Iran’s Health Minister Hasan Ghazizadeh Hashemi is expected to attend the ceremony.

Reza Kianian was born on June 19, 1952 in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.

He holds a degree in Theater from Tehran University.

He began acting in plays in 1966 appearing in works such as ‘Antigone’, and ‘The Marriage of Mr. Mississippi’.

In 1989, he appeared in his first film Hamid Samandarian’s 'All the Temptations of the Earth'.

At the 13th Fajr International Film Festival he was nominated for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for 'Kimiya' (1994).

He has also appeared in memorable works such as 'Cinema is Cinema' (1996) and 'Red Ribbon' (1998).

Kianian has won Crystal Simorgh for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role for 'Glass Agency' (1997) and Best Male Actor for 'House on Water' (2001).

He was also nominated to receive the Crystal Simorgh of Fajr International Film Festival in 2015 for the Best Actor in a Leading Role for Kiumars Pourahmad’s ‘Where Are My Shoes?’ (2015).

Some of Kianian’s other films and series are 'Patal and Small Wishes' (1989), 'The British Briefcase' (1999), 'Killing Dogs' (2000), 'Time of Rebellion' (2001), 'Qadamgah' (2003), 'A Piece of Bread' (2004), 'Zagros' (2005), 'There's Always a Woman Involved' (2007), 'Maritime Silk Road' (2010), 'The Rise of Mokhtar' (2009), 'A Cube of Sugar' (2010), 'The Long Path' (2012) and 'The Pahlavi Hat' (2012).
